Join us for ‘News Literacy and You’ as two librarians discuss how to assess news and journalism in the 21st century media landscape of fake news, sensationalism and the 24 hours news cycle. You’ll be trained to take a critical eye toward the news and be aware of cognitive bias, look out for multiple sources, think about verification and accountability and learn other important ways to process current events.
This event is part of our new Breaking News @ The Library program series from the Media Literacy @ Your Library project. Media Literacy @ Your Library, a project of the American Library Association in collaboration with the Center for News Literacy @ Stony Brook University, is supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Democracy Fund, and the Rita Allen Foundation.
