Event Details

The blockbuster movie Black Panther has brought Afrofuturism into mainstream pop culture.  But what is this cultural concept that combines elements of science fiction and fantasy into the Black  aesthetic and radical traditions? Join Afrofuturist thinker, Dr. LaWana Firyali Richmond for an illuminating discussion of Afrofuturism and its placement of Blackness at the center of the universe.  Registration encouraged.  Please scroll down.

Dr. Richmond has served as Staff Advisor to the Regents of the University of California and is currently a Businesses Development Manager at UC San Diego where her focus is  organizational development, project management and process improvement.  Her background and experience are an eclectic mix of operations, technology, leadership, and social justice.

Philosophy talk is an occasional community lecture and discussion series designed as a fun opportunity to connect the richness of philosophical thought and critical thinking to everyday life.
