Vote by Friday, May 10, to help select a film honoring Asian Pacific American Heritage Month for us to screen on Friday, May 24 at 2pm! 

  • The Big Sick (2017, R, 139 min)
    Pakistani-American man falls for a white grad student, and hides their romance from his family.  However, their relationship gets more serious when she develops a mysterious illness, which in turn forces him to bond with her parents.
  • The Joy Luck Club (1993, R, 139 min)
    Adaptation of Amy Tan's novel about a group of Chinese immigrant mothers who play mahjong and their Chinese American daughters, along with the unfolding of one family’s tragic, wartime story.
  • Moana (2017, PG, 107 min)
    Inexplicably drawn to the ocean, Moana convinces the mighty demigod Maui to join her on a mission to save her people, and he reluctantly helps her to become a wayfinder like her ancestors who sailed before her.
  • Picture Bride (1994, PG-13, 90 min)
    Tale about a Japanese woman who agrees to an arranged marriage in Hawaii.

On the 4th Friday of each month we screen a film that has been selected by the members of our community.  You can vote in-person at the PB Library's Circulation Desk, online in our Facebook poll, or by emailing your vote to cwainwright@sandiego.gov (link sends e-mail)
