Vote by Friday, February 8, to help select a film honoring Black History for us to screen on Friday, February 22 at 2pm! 

  • Blackkklansman (2018, R, 135 min)
    A black detective sets out to infiltrate the Colorado chapter of the Ku Klux Klan with the help of his Jewish colleague. In the midst of the 1970s civil rights movement, they risk their lives to obtain insider information on the violent organization.
  • Marshall (2017, PG-13, 118 min)
    In 1940 Connecticut, Thurgood Marshall (later the first African-American Supreme Court Justice) defends a black chauffeur accused of rape.
  • A Soldier's Story (1984, PG, 101 min)
    Academy award nominated adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play explores the ramifications of racism and loyalty through the prism of blacks in the military, revealed through a murder mystery set in the 1940s deep South.
  • Southside With You (2016, PG, 131 min)
    Docudrama about Barack Obama's first date with Michelle Robinson, his future wife, during the summer of 1989 in Chicago.

On the 4th Friday of each month we screen a film that has been selected by the members of our community.  You can vote in-person at the PB Library's Circulation Desk, online in our Facebook poll, or by emailing your vote to cwainwright@sandiego.gov (link sends e-mail).  Also, please feel free to share your suggestions as to what we will show on Friday, March 22.
