SWAN Day occurs at the end of March annually, and stands for Supporting Women Artists Now.
Mary Oliver was born in Ohio but lived much of her life in New England; Patty Griffin now lives in Austin, Texas but was born in Maine.
Emily Tessmer grew up in San Diego, now lives in Carson City, Nevada, and has lived much of her adult life in the Lake Tahoe area.
All Three of these Artists share similar sensibilities while of course being their unique selves.
Emily will play some of her own songs, as well as some of Patty Griffin's; and an Ensemble of Four Actors will present Mary Oliver poems and other writings and three of Patty Griffin's song lyrics as poems.
You will be sure to hear, among many others, well-known poems such as "Wild Geese" and "The Journey" and songs including "Rain" and "Up to the Mountain."
