Join us for more wonderful poetry readings with Ella deCastro Baron and Jennifer Derilo, in celebration of Filipino American History Month!

Ella deCastro Baron is a second-generation Filipina American writer and educator from Vallejo, CA. She teaches English and Creative Writing at San Diego City and Mesa Colleges and collaborates with artists to build spaces of connection, healing, and joy. She is the author of Subo and Baon: a Memoir in Bites (2024) and Itchy, Brown Girl Seeks Employment (2009), weaving stories of grief-tending, justice, and community care.

Jennifer Derilo has a memoir in progress that triangulates ghosts, cancer and the Bataan Death March, as well as a collection of dream-poems about sisters and grief. She teaches creative writing, literature and English composition at San Diego Mesa College. She adores cats. And abandoned predicate parts.
