Please join us for San Diego Public Library's 1st Pop-Up Freedom to Read Frenzy. Twenty-five San Diego Local Authors will share their pledge to take an action to Let Freedom Read! In a flash presentation, each author will have exactly one minute to introduce themselves, state their favorite banned book and make a commitment to take an action in the fight against book bans. Audience members, both virtually and in person will be invited to make their pledge for action by adding their name to our Banned Book Action Board! 


About Banned Book Week:

1st-7th is Banned Books Week, is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Banned Books Week was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden Typically held during the last week of September, it highlights the value of free and open access to information. Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular. This year's theme is Let Freedom Read.
