Program Description

Event Details

Ever wanted to flip a coin, but all you had were electronic parts? With PiB's Coin Flip Circuit kit, you can simulate the action of flipping a coin with just an electronic circuit! With the press of a button, the coin will "flip" as the flashing of LEDs alternates, settling on either "heads" or "tails". Creating a variation of a multivibrator circuit, participants will gain practical knowledge of components such as resistors, capacitors, and transistors. Participants are then taught to utilize this knowledge in changing the speed and duration of the LED flashes.

This is an in-person workshop.

Kits are created by UC San Diego's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering student led organization, Project-In-A-Box.

No experience required!

A Middle School or High School student must be participating.

Limit 1 kit per household. Only 1 registration needed per household.

All participants are welcome. If you need special accessibility accommodations, please email LYee@sandiego.gov in advance of your participation.

If you have comments, questions, or grievances about Project-In-A-Box, please contact LYee@sandiego.gov.
