Description of Event

Ella Palmer is a San Diego based Girl Scout Ambassador who has a passion for promoting kindness and acceptance of others through children's literature. As her Girl Scout Gold Award Project, she decided to write a book called 'Ralphie's Rainbow Hat' to publish which centers around topics of inclusivity and identity. Ella believes that including representation of different identities in literature for children is vital in order to create a kinder society. Ralphie is a young boy who suddenly feels out of place when trying to make new friends at school. He decided that the reason for this is caused by his favorite rainbow hat that he wears everyday. Ralphie ultimately learns that being his true self is the key to encouraging kindness from others around him. Ralphie's Rainbow Hat was written by Girl Scout Ella Palmer of Troop 2179, and illustrated by fellow school peer and artist Kayla S. Vaughan. Join Ella for a reading of 'Ralphie's Rainbow Hat' and stick around for coloring and activities. This event is a great introduction to the Girl Scout Gold Award Project for current Girl Scouts, as well as a warm celebration of acceptance and authenticity of one's true self.
