Welcome to the regional meeting for library partners the San Diego Ted Williams Chapter of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR).  This meeting is open to the public and will feature several speakers from the world of baseball and SABR members presenting on various baseball topics, research projects or writings.  Fred Rodgers will talk about capturing Tony Gwynn's first major-league hit in a photograph that now resides in the Hall of Fame. Andy McCue, who is working on a book about expansion, will discuss the background of the 1969 expansion and how the Padres came to be chosen. Rich Kee will speak about his experiences as Dodgers team photographer during the '70s and '80s. Wayne Towers will present his research on the emergence of relief pitching.
