Program Description

Event Details

Safa's Story is an interactive theatre program created for children and families. Based on the real experiences of a San Diego native, Safa is a Zimbabwean American fifth grader with a big imagination and an even bigger heart.

Through music and storytelling, audiences watch, and then participate, as Safa enters fifth grade and faces some unexpected challenges.

Safa's Story is a Forum Theater play, a rare style of theatre that uses role-play to allow audiences to explore ways to change the world around them. During the program, participants are invited to step into the shoes of the play's characters and to learn to take action on behalf of themselves or their peers when they experience bullying and conflict. This hopeful and innovative program offers both children and adults creative tools to navigate important, and sometimes difficult, conversations.
