Program Description

Event Details

Join us to learn about Indigenous and climate justice + how the climate emergency is fueling displacement.

Last year, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors proclaimed April 6th as San Diego Green New Deal Alliance Day.

This year we will honor that proclamation and Earth Month by hosting a community event that encompasses all the elements of the SDGNDA: climate, jobs, and justice.

Event Highlights:

  • Opening and closing Kumeyaay Ceremonies
  • Aztec Dance
  • Indigenous and Climate Justice + Climate-Driven Displacement: a panel discussion with Kumeyaay Tribal members and organizers of the water-drop program with Border Kindness who lead weekly water drops in the desert to support immigrants facing life-threatening, extreme temperatures.
  • Policy Tables: learn about our main regional, state, and national climate policy initiatives and add your signature to help fund San Diego’s Regional Transportation Plan!
  • IBEW 569 Table: learn about pre-apprenticeship and training opportunities for union jobs!
  • Vegetarian + Vegan snacks!
