Yvette Porter-Moore is a professional genealogist and public historian with over 30 years of experience in researching her own ancestry. She is actively researching the history of the Black Community in San Diego County. She is also currently serving as the Historian/Archivist at San Diego High School to preserve and digitize the school's archives. Yvette is the founder and owner of Root Digger Genealogy Research Services. She is currently working on cataloging and preserving the personal archives of Ruby Berkley Goodwin, the first African American to graduate from SDSU, poet, author, screenwriter, and columnist of Black Hollywood. She is a board member of the Historical SD Black Firestation-19. She also serves on the ECC Historical Committee, S.D. History Center Historical Society African American Advisory Committee. Ms. Porter-Moore has an eclectic background in education as she holds an AA degree in Cross-Cultural Studies, BA in Human Development, Paralegal Certificate from USD, and Genealogical Research certificate from Boston University and the Midwestern African American Genealogy Institute. Ms. Porter-Moore has appeared on KGTV, KUSI & KFMB 8 News and was a guest researcher on the Travel Channel appearing in Dead Files. She also has been a guest on various radio programs highlighting genealogy.

 

The San Diego City Clerk's Office is celebrating archives month all throughout October with a series of lectures at San Diego Central Library and an exhibit on display at the City Administration Building.
