Description of Event

The San Diego Police Department has made a proposal to install and operate Smart Streetlights and Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) systems in certain parts of the City. The proposal includes 111 units placed in District 8. The newly-created San Diego Privacy Advisory Board (PAB) will make recommendations to the City Council regarding these surveillance technologies and their impact on the civil rights, civil liberties, and privacy of San Diegans and visitors. The PAB is seeking public input on the privacy and security of implementing these Smart Streetlights and ALPRs and invites all residents, business, and workers in District 8 to provide input during this session.
