Join editor Lindsay M. Hood and a panel of the journalists who contributed to the anthology Stories of San Diego: A Collection about People of Color and Covid as they discuss how they helped document the impacts of the pandemic on communities of color and other marginalized groups in the region. The journalists explore aspects such as home life, employment struggles, disrupted plans, discrimination, and challenges in essential jobs, healthcare, and housing. Audience Q&A will follow. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.

Hood is an award-winning San Diego local news producer and a long-time resident of the city. During the pandemic, she and the other contributors embarked on a unique community project to capture the diverse experiences of those most affected by Covid 19 and the shut down. Stories of San Diego sheds light on the racial disparities and social injustices exacerbated by the virus.


Stories of San Diego was published by City Works Press, an all-volunteer non-profit publishing house housed at City College and dedicated to featuring work by San Diego writers.
