Event Details

Parents and other community members will benefit from this event, to learn about leading with compassion, and identifying -- and meeting -- children's needs, so that they will feel supported, be resilient, and reach their full potential, by using proven strategies.  Presented by Mr. Godwin Higa.

Mr. Higa is a retired Principal of the first Trauma-Responsive and Restorative Justice Practices School in San Diego Unified School District.  He taught grades 3-6 for 10 years, was a Principal for 20 years, and was District Teacher of the Year.  Mr. Higa is a nationally-recognized expert in supporting the mental health and wellness of students.  At Cherokee Point Elementary -- and as a consultant for the Hawaii Department of Education --  he lowered suspensions, while raising academic achievement.
