During this Library NExT game design course, students will learn how to make zombies walk and magic carpets fly. This course teaches animation basics as well as character and storyboard design. Each participant creates their own video game design project using MIT’s online programming platform, Scratch, from the MIT Media Lab. Scratch is an easy to use interface that incorporates fundamental logical concepts of computer programming, serving as a launch into all aspects of game design. No prior computer coding experience required.

Parking is not guaranteed, non-reserved and on a first-come/first-served basis.
No in-and-out access.  7'2" Max Vehicle Clearance.  
Regular rates apply ($1.25/20 minutes or part thereof) for cash/card payment at the exit after two-hour validation at the lobby.

Space is limited, advance registration is required.

Registration Policy and Procedures:

  • I understand students must attend all classes.
  • I understand students should arrive promptly for class and stay for the full duration of the class.
  • I understand this class is part of a partnership with UCSD. These classes differ from our regular programs in that they offer more of a structured, in-depth, and hands-on learning environment.
  • I understand I am responsible for arranging transport with/for my student(s) promptly at the start and end of the class.
  • I understand students should treat each other with respect; failure to do so could result in being dropped from the class.
  • I understand that a break will be included in the program and students are encouraged to bring water and a snack.
