The City Heights Performance Annex will host a sneak preview of San Diego Ballet’s upcoming Jazz/Dance program.
San Diego Ballet will present two premieres, Reflection and Hope and Gershwin Divertissement.
Reflection and Hope, choreographed by SDB artistic director Javier Velasco and set to a commissioned score by internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist Charles McPherson, is a lyrical study of the moods and emotions felt in modern society.
The second piece, the lovely Gershwin Divertissment, a new work choreographed by Velasco, is set to George Gershwin’s popular tunes: Summertime, Someone to Watch Over Me, and Nice Work If You Can Get It. This breezy, jazzy pas de deux is sure to bring a smile to your face.
Jazz/Dance is a ongoing initiative by SDB to create an annual program of ballets performed by local Jazz musicians in May of every year.
