Program Description

Event Details

This short story highlights black veterans’ tremendous contributions to the United States Armed Forces—experiences often unrecognized and undocumented.

Richard Woods experienced racism and segregation growing up in a small town in Texas only to be drafted into the Armed Forces to experience the same thing on a much deeper level. Despite those challenges, Richard vowed to serve his country as a Marine and fight in the Vietnam war.

The screening is followed by a discussion with the filmmakers Peter and Teanna Okojie.  Peter, a professional videographer, documentary filmmaker and Teanna, a professional photographer, work together telling everyday individuals powerful and impactful stories.  You can find their work on several streaming platforms, social media and film festivals. In 2022 they launched their production company, EFUA Media.
