Homage to the Square

December 10, 2024 - February 4, 2025

Homage to the Square reimagines the picture plane as more than a passive substrate—it becomes an active participant in the creative process. Historically, the surface of the canvas served merely as a ground upon which paint was applied. In this exhibition, the flatness of the surface assumes a pivotal role, shaping the work’s very essence and production.

Through a unique monoprinting process, the artist presses acrylic paint onto the canvas, allowing the plane’s inherent characteristics to dictate interactions between pigment, texture, and composition. This method transforms the surface into a collaborator, allowing it to transcend its passive role and assert its presence. Homage to the Square honors the foundational yet evolving role of the picture plane, exploring its reimagined vitality and relevance in today’s artistic discourse.
