Tom Baldauf is a 99 year old resident of Point Loma.  He is a veteran of World War II having graduated with a commission from the Merchant Marine Academy in order to serve as a young man.  He also served as Lieutenant in the Navy during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Janet Baxter, in 1952.  Janet was a 4^th generation San Diego, so they decided to make their home in San Diego.  They raised 2 daughters and were very involved in the San Diego community.

On a visit to Palm Springs nearly 60 years ago, Tom noticed a painting on the wall and thought “hey I could paint that.”  And so began his love affair with painting.  Tom studied life drawing and painting for many years.  He was a founding member of Maple Gallery, an artist’s collective in Little Italy. 

He would love to celebrate his entrance into his 100^th year with this exhibit of his paintings.
