Program Description

Event Details

Staged readings, in Spanish, of plays by Victor Hugo Rascón Banda. A renowned and important Mexican playwright whose talent for representing the conflicts of a complex and contradictory society made him one of the most consequential writers in Mexico.

The much studied “La mujer que cayó del cielo”, is based on the real story of a Rarámuri migrant woman and sets out the social issues and human costs resulting from language and culture barriers. “Ahora y en la hora”, one of his last plays, depicts the myriad of characters in a society and makes us think about our life and our mortality.

Both pieces, and the brief conversation will present a good introduction to the theater of one of Mexico’s most important playwrights.

This performance is free to attend. Reserve your spot here: https://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/eventReg?oeidk=a07ejfjkm3nac4bc972&oseq=&c=&ch=
