Program Description

Event Details

Charles Darwin spent 5 years on Her Majesty’s Ship Beagle, but only 5 weeks on the Galapagos Islands, a pivotal location in his development of ideas.  Learn how Darwin’s expedition provided the foundation for his theory of natural selection.

Fred Bercovitch has a PhD in biological anthropology from UCLA and has published over 150 scientific articles. His scientific background provides a foundation for combining evolutionary biology with conservation. He is a Charles Darwin aficionado, having read The Origin of Species over a dozen times and traveled to some of the places that Darwin lived and visited.
