Join Professor Dayo Gore of UCSD’s Ethnic Studies Department for a discussion of the 1951 document We Charge Genocide: The Crime of Government Against the Negro People to the UN Genocide Convention and the network of civil rights activists that helped to develop and submit it. The document accused the US government of genocide against African Americans. To build its case, it cited lynching, legal discrimination, disenfranchisement in the South, police brutality, and inequalities in health and quality of life. Paul Robeson presented the document to the UN in New York.

Professor Gore teaches in the Ethnic Studies and Critical Gender Studies Dept at UCSD where she is the current chairperson. Dr. Gore’s expertise and research interests include African American women's history, U.S. political and cultural activism, African American and the African Diaspora politics, and gender and sexuality studies.
