Program Description

Event Details

Learn to edit Wikipedia pages and contribute to making knowledge more accessible! Join us on Monday, October 24th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in editing and/or writing Wikipedia articles regarding Filipino American history. Learn the basics of Wikipedia editing and learn more about influential Filipino American historical figures and events. All experience levels are welcome. It is highly recommended that participants create a Wikipedia account ahead of time.

Please register and reserve your space below!

The San Diego Wikimedians User Group, an affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation, will be giving a short tutorial on getting started with Wikipedia. Afterwards, we will begin editing! Computers will be available. Attendees may bring their own WiFi-enabled devices if they so desire, though in-room outlet space may be limited.

The Padres will be playing at nearby Petco Park on October 24th. The Library parking garage will have elevated parking rates from 3-6pm. In addition, due to the popularity of these games, the Library parking garage may fill completely. It is highly recommended that attendees utilize other forms of transportation than driving.

Attendees might consider:

  • Taking the Bus
  • Utilizing FRED Circuit (Free Ride Everywhere Downtown)
    • Park downtown (far away from the Stadium!) and use the app to get a free ride to the library. Please note that this can take some time.
  • Park in another lot shown on this map. (The green lots are generally the cheapest, but as this is a big game for the Padres, these lots may be full.)
  • Ride share or take a taxi using your preferred company.
  • Take the Trolley
    • Take the Blue Line or Orange Line to Park & Market Trolley Station, or the Green Line to Imperial Transit Center.
