Soprano Zulma Jharet Monsalvo is a Logan Heights Native. She graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2013, majoring in music education. Her operatic debut came in November 2010, as Le’Spirit in Point Loma Opera Theatre's production of Massenet's Cendrillon.  In the Spring of 2011, she sang the role of Susana in scenes from Le Nozze di Figaro with Ian Campbell, formal general director of San Diego Opera. Her other opera roles include the character, Sandrina, in Mozart’s comic opera, La Finta Giardinera, and Lolo in Die Lustige Witwe (The Merry Widow), which she preformed with Point Loma Opera Theater. She has participated in the Association of Professionals and Students (APS) as a soloist in UCLA's Royce Hall June 2008, Tijuana Cultural Centre (CECUT) in April 2010 and in the Kodak Theatre (now the Dolby Theatre) in Los Angeles in November 2009. Her most recent breakthrough success was in May 2019 where she sang in the renown theater in Mexico Bellas Artes alongside the Association of Professionals and Entrepreneurs of Mexico (APEM).
