Our Time on this Planet: Courage & Tenderness in Valeria Luiselli’s Work
Join us for a reading of Valeria Luiselli's Lost Children Archive and Tell Me How It Ends, followed by a panel conversation led by local educators and activists. They'll be discussing themes of immigration and separation of families in Luiselli's work, how to get involved in classrooms and community, and how to build action campaigns. Attendees will receive a copy of one book by Luiselli to participate, while supplies last.
Valeria Luiselli is an award-winning Mexican author living in the United States. Her two most recent works, Tell me How this Ends: an essay in 40 questions (2017) and Lost Children Archive (2019) focus on immigration and are based off of her personal experiences.
The Panel will be led by Rosiangela Escamilla, doctoral candidate in Literature at University of California San Diego, América Martínez, a political educator in the Chicana/o/x Studies Department at San Diego City College and Ymoat Luna, a current board member and cultural worker of San Diego’s historic Centro Cultural de la Raza.
