Description of Event
The Pacific Division of the American Philosophical Association has assembled a panel of renowned experts on immigration policy to discuss its philosophical aspects with the general public. Topics will include the cosmopolitan ideal of open borders, the role that closed borders play in preserving national identities, and the respective roles played by these cosmopolitan and nationalistic ideals in our current debates over immigration policy in the United States. The majority of the session will be devoted to questions from the audience. Our aim is to discuss immigration policy at a high level of sophistication in a respectful, well reasoned manner.
