Program Description

Event Details

Every other week, SDPL staff publish book reviews in the San Diego Union Tribune followed by a video review posted on SDPL social media the following week. Watch the Behind the Desk video and receive bonus content about the book.

Library assistant Laurel Berns recommends History of Wolves by Emily Fridlund, a debut novel set in the woods of northern Minnesota, where a nearly abandoned commune stands as a last vestige of a lost counter-culture world.

Behind the Desk is our latest video series and delves deeper into the Recommended Reads published every other Sunday in the Union-Tribune. Check the Sunday Paper to see the latest review from SDPL staff from all over San Diego or view our archives on the library website: https://sandiego.gov/sdplreviews.

Want other suggestions for great reads? Laurel has a playlist for you:

Peace Like a River by Leif Enger

Idaho by Emily Ruskovich

Elmet by Fiona Mozley
