Artist's Statement:  Black History Month is an incredible opportunity to educate youth and adults alike in how African-Americans came to the U.S. as slaves or freed servants, how they once lived free but yet where never truly free until they could vote.  How they fought in US wars during times they were not allowed to vote or have full equal rights.  This display illustrates some of the leaders that propelled us forward in the fight for Civil Rights, STEM Innovation and Health Care advancements.  This is a month long exhibit to display where African Americans have contributed to United States of America society.  However to also notate there are still Civil Rights challenges to overcome and that Black History Month is American History.  It exist not only one month out of the year but is interwoven into American history 365 days a year.     -- Richard L.
