Event Details

As part of a two-event collaboration between San Diego Public Library and the University of San Diego Copley Library (USD), come to a panel discussion inspired by the book, "The Grace of Silence: a Family Memoir." Written by Michele Norris—journalist and former host of NPR's All Things Considered—almost ten years ago, the memoir delved into her family's history and the secrets they kept while illuminating America's complex racial legacy. With this text as inspiration, the panelists will explore the meaning of silence in African American communities and how it comes up in their lives.

This panel features moderator Vanjury "V" Dozier of the Copley Library, Channon Sierra Miller, Ph.D. (Department of History, USD) and Cory Charles Gooding, Ph.D. (Department of Political Science and International Relations, USD).

The event is FREE and open to the public.

Parking in the library garage is complimentary for 2 hours with validated parking ticket.
