Description of Event

Join us for a film and discussion exploring the possibilities for facing the end of our lives. "Living While Dying", a documentary by Portland filmmaker Cathy Zheutlin, offers and introduction to examining death in a new way. As Cathy states, "This movie offers examples of living while dying. By breaking the mold of standard expectations, it invites us to re-imagine our own inevitable endings in new ways. As Dr Ira Byock points out, we can see dying as another developmental stage, like adolescence or midlife. And in fact, the people in this film die with a sense of wellness." The film is 45 minutes followed by time for guided small group discussion. April 16 is National Healthcare Decisions Day, and there will also be resources available to help you with advance care planning.
