Program Description

Event Details

Go on a field trip with the local youth librarian to the La Jolla Historical Society, because February is San Diego Museum Month! Library patrons will get a tour of the La Jolla's historic landmark Wisteria Cottage. The cottage is a historic building which dates to 1904 as a private residence of George and Edith Seamans. Over the years it became a home for the Scripps family, an elementary school, number of bookstores, and eventually our gallery in 2008. On the tour you’ll learn about the rich history of the cottage, its architecture, and the people of La Jolla. We’ll also interweave the history of African Americans in La Jolla in honor of Black History month. Through diverse programming the Society blends the new with the old, and continues its mission of inspiring the community of La Jolla’s diverse past and to be a part of contemporary life.

We will meet at the La Jolla Historical Society located at 780 Prospect St, La Jolla, CA 92037.

Grades 3+ (children are required to be accompanied by an adult caregiver). Registration required.
