The Friends of the La Jolla Library presents Film Noir Classics, shown on the second Friday of every month at 2:00pm.

January 11, 2019 - Witness for the Prosecution (1957), starring Tyrone Power and Marlene Dietrich. A veteran British barrister must defend his client in a murder trial that has surprise after surprise.

February 8, 2019 - Gaslight (1944), starring Charles Boyer and Ingrid Bergman. Years after her aunt was murdered in her home, a young woman moves back into the house with her new husband. However, he has a secret that he will do anything to protect, even if it means driving his wife insane.

March 8, 2019 - The Big Heat (1953), starring Glenn Ford and Gloria Grahame. Tough cop Dave Bannion takes on a politically powerful crime syndicate.

April 12, 2019 - Scarlet Street (1945), starring Edward G. Robinson and Joan Bennett. When a man in mid-life crisis befriends a young woman, her venal fiancé persuades her to con him out of the fortune they mistakenly assume he possesses.

May 10, 2019 - Notorious (1946), starring Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman. A woman is asked to spy on a group of Nazi friends in South America.  How far will she have to go to ingratiate herself with them?

June 14, 2019 - Rebecca (1940), starring Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine. A self-conscious bride is tormented by the memory of her husband's dead first wife.
