Description of Event
Humanistic Judaism is the revolutionary merger of 20th century humanism and Judaism with the 1960's generation's commitment to social justice. This is the second in a three-part summer series of classes to learn about the philosophy and practices of humanistic Judaism. Attendees will learn how this movement got started and is different from traditional Judaism. Participants will learn about the humanist approach to Jewish holidays, life cycle celebrations, and Jewish identity. There will be a video and lecture presentation followed by a question and answer period. The course is free and open to the public. No texts are required. Refreshments will be offered after the class. This program is neither sponsored nor endorsed by the San Diego Public Library.
