Join Professor Susan Hasegawa for a lecture on Japanese Americans in San Diego.

For nearly 150 years, Japanese immigrants and Japanese Americans have called San Diego County home, attracted to the warm climate and economic opportunities. How did they contribute to the history and growth of the San Diego region and grow into a thriving community? How did they survive the heartbreak of evacuation and incarceration during World War II in desert concentrations camps and return to rebuild a vibrant community after the war? How have the post-Incarceration generations carry on the triumphant legacy deeded to them by their forbears?
