Long before Indiana Jones braved traps, animals, and dangerous men to find treasures for museums, readers of series books experienced similar thrills. Often the writers had no particular connection to the exotic locales they used. Some did research in books and magazines. A few actually lived in those places for months or years, adding geographic authenticity. Explore more than a dozen examples by authors like Edward Stratemeyer, L. Frank Baum, and others.
