Attention all nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and budding scientists!

The City Nature Challenge is back! From April 30th to May 3rd, join the San Diego Natural History Museum and the San Diego Public Library in an effort to find and document as many plants and wildlife as possible in a four-day bioblitz extravaganza! With San Diego being one of the most bio-diverse regions in the contiguous United States, there is no shortage of plants and animals to be found – you may even discover a new species or two!

How does it work? It’s simple! Find plants or wildlife, take a picture, and share your observations using the free iNaturalist app! The perfect family activity, participants of all ages are encouraged to explore the outdoors and learn more about San Diego’s diverse habitats and ecosystems! Don’t forget to wear your masks and maintain social distancing while you explore!

In celebration of the City Nature Challenge, for today’s Preschool Storytime Ms. Dana reads “Tree” written and illustrated by Britta Teckentrup – a story about the changes in a tree throughout the seasons. This story is read with permission by Doubleday Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Random House Children's Books, a division of Penguin Random House.
