Description of Event

New Alternative's Center for Child and Youth Psychiatry Program provides effective education, resources and medication management services to children and youth struggling with mental health issues who may be medically fragile. To accomplish these goals and maintain stability of the child and/or youth’s mental health functioning, the Center for Child and Youth Psychiatry provides culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate services to meet the children, youth and families’ needs. Trained and skilled contracted Psychiatrists, licensed Care Coordinators and Nurses will assure these needs will be met by conducting an assessment and planning services that are client- and strength-based, and directly take into consideration the client’s cultural and developmental needs. Resource Fairs are conducted monthly (12- a year) and focus on behavioral health issues, treatments, effective interventions and resources in our families’ communities. Fairs will be interactive and empowering for both caregivers and youth. Topics will be gathered from parents who will be sent a survey via Survey Monkey, and also from the direct-care staff to identify current struggles facing youth and their families, so relevant topics can be identified and researched. All staff will share in the identification of resources, treatment modalities, interventions and knowledge that will be shared monthly at our Resources Fairs. Parent Partners will be available to connect and meet with parents during these events and provide additional hours of support to further help caregivers navigate through systems that are overwhelming in nature. Parent Partners will focus on warm hand offs with community supports and identify additional family-centered supports to be at the resource fairs. The Program Director, contracted, Board Certified Psychiatrists, Care Coordinators and Nurses will also be available to meet with families before, during or after the Fairs.
