Description of Event

San Diego Housing Commission families who currently reside in Southeastern San Diego and have at least one teen and/or young adult between the ages of 14-24 qualify for additional programs and services! The San Diego Housing Commission will be at the Malcolm X Library to tell you more about our programs! We help parents and young adults discover a career path and provide assistance with creating a plan to achieve it! Program Benefits Career advice and planning Transportation Assistance Help enrolling into school and training programs Help with college applications Credit and debt counseling Financial education Parents may also qualify to enroll in The Family Self-Sufficiency(FSS) Program, which provides a special savings account opportunity to earn up to $10,000 within 2 years together (one per household) to assist with education expenses, paying off debt, or a down payment for a home purchase. Motivated clients have successfully pursued college degrees, found better employment, and purchased homes under special first-time homebuyer programs.
