Description of Event
All of Us or None is an organizing initiative to strengthen the voices of prisoners, formerly- incarcerated people and our families. We are specifically fighting the discrimination that people with felony convictions face when they come out of prison — in employment, education, housing, voting rights, welfare and food-stamp assistance, and many other areas. Our Peace and Justice Community Summit will be a community speak-out, where small groups of community members can address elected officials, voicing our demands and recommendations for policy change. We have found it absolutely necessary that we respond to the massive discrimination that many of us faced after being convicted of a felony or after being release from custody. We recognize the reality that the nation’s prisons and jails are mainly filled with people of color, and therefore it will be people of color who are released. In fact, there will be over 600,000 returning this year. In many cases, we are unable to find work. We are unable to return home to our families living in public housing and, increasingly, in private housing. . In order to challenge the discrimination that we face, organizing, mobilizing strategies and movement building. Throughout the Summit we will testify about rebuilding our lives with full civil rights restored, we have organized the Peace and Justice Community Summit which we hope you will attend.
