Program Description

Event Details

Have you ever burned your tongue on a metal spoon used to stir hot soup? If an astronaut were to eat some soup with the same spoon in space, would it burn their tongue too? In this workshop, students will learn about heat transfer by conduction. They will use the Quest Space Kit to build hardware to test how conduction works. Then students will use the C programming language in the Arduino environment to program their experiments. They will upload their programs to a module on the International Space Station to test how microgravity affects conduction.

This project is funded in whole or in part with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program funds provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to the City of San Diego.

All participants are welcome. If you need special accessibility accommodations, please call (619) 236-5807 or email mbrandesmiesner@sandiego.gov in advance of your participation.
