Program Description

Event Details

This presentation will be by California Advocates for RCFE Reform (CARR) (https://rcfereform.org/). The name of the organization should make it clear that there might be some things about RCFEs that you should know before you or a loved-one enters such a facility. The presentation will cover:

  • What is CARR, what do they do, and why and how do they do it?
  • Assisted Living 101 - What is an RCFE? Who licenses the care model? What are the regulatory gaps CARR sees and investigates?  How do CARR legislative reform proposals try to fill the regulatory gaps to improve resident health and safety in assisted living facilities throughout the State.
  • Tools for learning about assisted living, and their reliability:  California Community Care Licensing Division’s (CCLD) transparency website; commercial placement agencies; and Choose Well San Diego, the county of San Diego's free website that provides scores and details about a facility's care and compliance with regulatory requirements.
