STEAM Explorers Club is for 3rd through 6th graders who are interested in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Mathematics). Each week kids engage in a new and fun hands-on/minds-on activity exploring a wide range of subjects.

This course is a two-part interactive introduction to classical physics (force, movement, energy, and more) filled with interactive demonstrations, science experiments, and activities lead by teen instructors from Project NexTech.

• Maker Space Workshops (Grades 1-5 / Ages 6-13): Build, design, and engineer your way through fun challenges like popsicle stick bridges, spaghetti and marshmallow towers, wooden cars, and more!

Explore methods of physical and mental self-care with a wellness activity, then join us in learning a delicious healthy recipe that boosts our moods!

This is an in-person program. Registration is encouraged.

Bring the littles and come for a fun dance party and maybe a storytime!  We will dance to fun songs, use egg shakers, and dance with bubbles!

Please join us for storytime and craft every Saturday morning in the Children's Area at 10:00AM.

7 Week Ukulele and Literacy Program for Ages 5-9

Join City Ballet of San Diego for "A Book and a Ballerina!" Enjoy listening to a read-aloud, hearing from a professional ballerina, and learning some basic dance steps.

Visit the library on Saturday & create a terrific craft. All supplies provided! 

Join Ms. Isabel and Mr. Jeff for stories read in both Spanish and English, with a fun and simple craft to follow.

Join Ms. Lynn for a bilingual Vietnamese and English picture book storytime, followed by a craft program.  The program is for children ages 4-8 years-old. Win a prize! 

Join Zovargo for an educational, interactive, animal program! Learn about the amazing abilities these animals have and how you can help make a difference in the lives of their wild cousins!

Practice your reading skills with a fluffy friend! Participants learn how to be safe around animals as they improve their reading skills.

Stop by and read to some fluffy friends! Join us as we host the San Diego Humane Society to promote literacy! They'll be stopping by with some furry companions that are itching to hear the next story!

Explore the basics of electrical circuits! Through hands-on activities using components such as batteries, wires, and LEDs, inquisitive participants will investigate current, voltage, resistance in closed circuits.

LEGO Free Play: Imagine and build with LEGO! Keep your engineering and problem-solving skills sharp using the library's LEGO bricks.

Explore what makes the tech world run! In this hands-on program, participants will learn how algorithms, design thinking, and wire framing work while increasing their digital awareness and creating their own prototype in Canva.

Step into the exciting world of engineering and robotics in this hands-on Intro to Robotics workshop!

We are excited to offer 3D Printing in person! Stop by the La Jolla/Riford Library's IDEA Lab during open lab hours with your .STL file and staff will be happy to assist you.
