Note: Because of the Monday closure, the Off-Beat Book Club will now be meeting on the first Tuesday of the month.

OBCeans deserve a book club that's a little bit quirky, just like they are! Join us on the first Tuesday of the month for a lively discussion of books that might not otherwise be on your radar. A limited number of copies of the month's selection will be available for checkout; just ask at the Circulation Desk.

December feels like time for a mystery, so we're reading one that also features a family reunion, Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson. Compared to Knives Out and Clue meet Agatha Christie and The Thursday Murder Club, this book follows Ernest Cunningham, whose family is a little different from the ordinary. From the publisher:

Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate.

I’m Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I’d killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it’s a little more complicated than that.

Have I killed someone? Yes. I have.

Who was it?

Let’s get started.

EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY HAS KILLED SOMEONE

My brother

My stepsister

My wife

My father

My mother

My sister-in-law

My uncle

My stepfather

My aunt
