Event Details

Free to participate! Every participant will be able to go home with a take-home, programmable LED lantern!

In this workshop, participants will learn about the Chamorro culture for AAPI Heritage Month through programming a basic LED Latte Stone lantern using the Adafruit microcontroller. Open to ages 10+, all coding skill levels from beginner to advanced, and to all members of the community who are interested in learning about the Chamorro culture.

We’ll begin the workshop by teaching participants about the history of the Chamorro people. Given the 2 hour workshop duration, the LED circuit, Adafruit microcontroller, and lantern will be pre-wired and assembled so that students can focus on learning how to code a variety of light sequences. All materials will be available to take home for participants to customize, decorate, and share with friends and family!
