June Theme: Type 1 & Type 2 Coin Designs.

Need any ideas? Large & Small Motto Two Cent pieces, On the Mound and on the Plain Buffalo Nickels, The exposed and covered breast on the Standing Liberty Quarter, each of which also depicted a different motif with the flying eagle and stars on the reverse.  There are so many examples wherein subtle changes were effected almost immediately after the start of production. In some cases it took years for the second type to reveal itself, such as with the Coronet style double eagles.  Each show & tell should feature at least two coins with one example of an initial design, and a second coin reflecting the subsequent change.

As mentioned last time, please remember, we are now meeting in a library. When the double doors are closed, we can speak in our normal voices. However, once the meeting has adjourned and the doors to the hallway are opened, and especially as we proceed to exit, we need to keep our voices down. We can of course continue our conversations outside.

Did you agree to sit for awhile at the Del Mar Fair?  If you haven’t done so, Ken Spindler would love to hear from you. A commitment to sit for a few hours earns you a free entry to the fair and our club a point towards profit sharing from Coinarama.  There are plenty of time slots available, so Ken probably has some that would fit your schedule. Ken can be reached at kjspindler @hotmail.com.

Our continued thanks to Debby Montisano for her home baked brownies. If you have yet to attend a meeting at the library, consider dropping by to check out our new digs. Remember to turn West onto Research Place and follow the frontage road until you see the library on your right. Once you enter the library, turn to the right, and we meet behind the closed double doors adjacent to the restrooms.  We look forward to seeing you next week on Tuesday June 14th at 6:00 p.m.
