Program Description

Event Details

Conservation + Comics is a workshop that merges science and art (STEAM) to educate students about conservation topics such as the loss of biodiversity and climate change. This particular workshop is focused on the unifying theme of biodiversity loss - what biodiversity is, why it's important, why we're losing it/what are the threats, and what are some solutions to this global problem. Students are encouraged to critically think in an inquiry-based format as they brainstorm solutions, finishing the workshop by communicating the science they just learned through the innovative platform of nature comics. Included in this workshop is art instruction by a guest artist from Little Fish Comic Book Studio, art supplies (sketchbooks and colored pencils), and scientific learning taught by a National Park Service biologist.
