Join the international phenomenon that is The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever by donning a red dress and dancing in the Pacific Beach Library's park to Kate Bush’s song “Wuthering Heights,” the 1978 song based on Emily Bronte’s classic 1847 novel! Before we meet up for the most wuthering performance of our joyous dance on Saturday, July 30th at 12pm, you may want to find a red dress and learn the moves.
Dancers of all sizes, ages, genders and abilities are invited to Wuther with us! For those who don't want to buy a red dress or can't dig out one from the back of your closet, you can join us either in-person or online for a costuming workshop. We will show you how to make 3 costuming elements:
- Sew a simple tunic style dress in about an hour
- Sew flowy sleeves that you can add to a shirt or dress that you already have
- Make a felt flower that you can clip into your hair, a la Kate Bush in her video for "Wuthering Heights"
If you'd like to sew along, supplies you'll need are:
- 2-3 yards of red fabric (light weight fabric is recommended)
- sewing machine
- scissors
- elastic (can be narrow)
- measuring tape or ruler
