The Library Shop and the San Diego Public Library are proud to welcome Ece Temelkuran to the Neil Morgan Auditorium at the Central Library @ Joan Λ Irwin Jacobs Common to discuss her "vividly evoked" novel, The Time of Mute Swans, Monday May 21st at 7:00pm.

The discussion will be moderated by San Diego State Professor Randy Reinholz.  After the event Ms. Temelkuran will be autographing books purchased from the Library Shop.  All proceeds support the San Diego Public Library.  This event is free and open to the public.

Ece Temelkuran is an internationally recognized journalist and political commentator with over two million Twitter followers.  She has lived in exile since being fired in 2012 from the Turkish newspaper Habertürk for criticizing policies of the current Turkish government.  Her work has appeared in The Guardian, The New York Times and Der Spiegel and she has spoken at Oxford, the London School of Economics, Harvard, Columbia, MIT and the House of Commons in the British Parliament.  She also appeared on BBC’s Hard Talk and was most recently a panelist at the Women In The World Conference for a discussion on the rise of authoritarianism moderated by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
